Who We Are
Sage is a modern mediation firm offering comprehensive services to help individuals and organisations look at conflicts from new perspectives. We want all our clients to achieve great results from amicable conflict resolution.
Sage is not a mediation centre or a law firm.
The Name
When I sought a name, “Sage” resonated on many levels.
At its heart, Sage is about Wisdom. Many of us seek as King Solomon did to act wisely. I believe that when in a dispute, everyone wants to find a solution that is not just legally right but logical, compassionate, and humane.
For Sage, this means that when clients trust us to help them through some of their most difficult conflict situations, we respond with respect and walk closely with them.
As part of our practice of Wisdom, we must be prepared to recognise that issues are oftentimes complex and readily work with others who are experts in different domains in order to craft the best possible outcome for our clients.
This is important because “Sage” is also about Excellence.
When I first thought of setting up a company, the vision had been to bring together some of the best minds on amicable conflict resolution into Asia. With 20 top international conflict resolvers agreeing to be named as independent advisors, and many more indicating their support but preferring to remain anonymous, I have been greatly encouraged. The collective experiences and imagination of the advisors would enable Sage to drive innovation in conflict resolution practice.
From an internal perspective, excellence for Sage means that every team member must be fundamentally driven by a strong sense of purpose. Because many clients are turning to Sage almost as a final hope in their search for an amicable solution, we must personify this hope individually and as a team. The cohesiveness and collective energy and talents of the Sage team is its distinctive excellence.
Lastly, and most importantly, “Sage” is a reminder to the team to stay relentlessly committed to serve the community. The resources of Sage must always be directed first to those most in need of fair solutions and to assist those eager to explore the power of amicable conflict resolution.
On a personal interest level, I’d like to Sage to energise the youth, for it to be the place where they can receive the confidence and tools to be authentic leaders and advocates of non-violence and collaboration.
Service has been what has given me meaning and the Sage ethos must always bear that element of humble and dignified service to others.
There will be so much to do and learn together in the road ahead!
